Most of our neighborhood schools were built more than 50 years ago and don’t meet modern safety codes. Some have hazardous materials like asbestos/lead pipes, while others need earthquake safety retrofits.

Gas lines and plumbing at our older schools are starting to fail, causing leaks, mold, and even leaving some classrooms without heat or air conditioning. 276 portable classrooms are 25 years old and falling apart – including structural damage and water leaks.

It’s expensive to keep making short-term, band-air repairs. Measure V is a long-term solution that saves money over time.

Measure V will make our schools and students safer by improving campus security and investing in arts and sports to keep kids healthy, active, and away from drugs, gangs, and criminal activity.
